Frontier Command
★★★★☆ 4.2
Frontier Command puts you in charge of a small outpost and asks you to grow it without overextending. The core loop is familiar — gather, build, defend — but the pacing is tuned so that smart scheduling beats brute force. We lost our first settlement by expanding too fast and learned the lesson quickly.
Combat plays out on a grid where positioning and unit roles decide fights. Rushing in rarely works; scouting first and setting up a defensive line pays off. The single-player campaign gives you a proper runway to learn before any pressure ramps up.
The menus could be cleaner and some upgrades feel marginal, but the fundamentals are solid. If you enjoy planning three moves ahead on a train ride, it delivers.
What we liked
- Rewards careful planning
